28 March 2019 — Olive Tree Estates and the University of Labour and Social Affairs Campus 2 (ULSA2) in Vietnam have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to co-operate and collaborate as strategic partners in the areas of social work development in Vietnam, through various projects in training and education on ULSA2’s Ho Chi Minh City campus.
This partnership will promote excellence in social work practice in Ho Chi Minh City, by establishing ULSA2 as a university leading the advancement of social work professions in Ho Chi Minh City.
A key partnership objective is the future establishment of the ULSA2-Olive Tree Estates Community Service Project Office, or ULSA2-OTE CSC, as a model of excellence in social work practice and community development. Specifically, this Community Service Centre will apply the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) model to engage and build up the student body, giving them the opportunity to learn more about the communities around the campus and support them through the volunteer work.
To further support the student population, this collaboration also offers training and internship opportunities for outstanding social work undergraduates, along with experienced social workers and counsellors from local and international Non-Government Organisations (NGOs).
In addition, ULSA2 will collaborate closely with Olive Tree Estates to share key social welfare and impact research by ULSA2 academics that are translatable to programmes for local NGOs and NPOs with capacity.
